Meeting of Mongolia’s NITAG

Mongolia’s NITAG held its first meeting of 2012 on March 26 in Ulaanbaatar. The purpose was to discuss the introduction of new vaccines.

Visit in Benin to introduce the development of the concept paper

AMP and the West African Health Organisation (WAHO) jointly visited Benin’s national health authorities, from March 5 to 9, to start the development of a concept paper that will define the country’s future NITAG.

AMP and WHO-PAHO join effort to disseminate evidence-based decision-making tools

AMP has been awarded a grant from the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) to work in an International Working Group (IWG) for the generalization of ProVac tools and methodologies for African, European, and Mediterranean regions. Partners involved in the IWG are PAHO, the US-CDC, PATH, Sabin Institute, and AMP.

Two New NITAGs in Central Asia

The Ministers of Health of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan issued decrees establishing their NITAGs on February 14 and 27, respectively. The inaugural sessions of these two new NITAGs, established with the support of SIVAC, will be held in the next few weeks.

Concept Paper for Senegal’s Future NITAG Validated

On February 1, several technical players met in Dakar to review and validate the concept paper describing Senegal’s future NITAG. The document, which was prepared by a national team with the support of SIVAC and WAHO, was finalized, approved, and transmitted to the cabinet of the Minister of Health.

Côte d’Ivoire’s NITAG Holds Orientation Workshop

The members of the Comité National d'Experts Indépendants pour la Vaccination et les Vaccins de la Côte d'Ivoire (CNEIV-CI) met from February 23 to 24 for the first regular meeting of 2012. An orientation workshop was also held, which allowed participants to review the immunization situation in Côte d’Ivoire, to participate in a case study about the role of a NITAG, and to outline the committee’s work plan for 2012.

Agreement to Support Mongolia’s NITAG

The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCDD) signed an agreement related to the SIVAC support to Mongolia’s NITAG.

Publication on the Establishment of Côte d’Ivoire’s NITAG

Côte d’Ivoire was the first GAVI-eligible country in sub-Saharan Africa to establish a NITAG, with the support of SIVAC. The article “Establishment of a National Immunization Technical Advisory Group in Côte d'Ivoire: Process and Lessons Learned” was published in Vaccine, and is available online at:
