4th ProVac Regional Workshop held in Managua, Nicaragua

SIVAC participated in the 4th Regional ProVac Meeting, held in Managua, Nicaragua from March 2 3, 2010. The workshop, organized by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the regional office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), focused on the main components of a cost effectiveness analysis for vaccine introduction, using rotavirus vaccine as an example. The SIVAC and ProVac teams discussed the terms of collaboration for the adaptation and diffusion of tools developed by ProVac to the other WHO regions.

Kenya holds meeting to finalize concept paper for future NITAG

On March 9, SIVAC participated in a national consensus meeting in Nairobi, Kenya to finalize a concept paper presenting the country's future National Independent Technical Advisory Group (NITAG). Moreover, the SIVAC team, along with Dr. Jennifer Moisi (Division of Vaccines and Immunization, Kenyan Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation), met with Dr. Sharif, director of public health, in order to discuss next steps for implementing the Kenyan NITAG.

Côte d'Ivoire's NITAG meets for a second time

SIVAC took part in the second meeting of the Comité National d'Experts Indépendants pour la Vaccination et les Vaccins de la Côte d'Ivoire (CNEIV-CI), held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire on March 12. The meeting served to determine the committee's work schedule for 2010.

Sanitary authorities from Mozambique move forward with NITAG plans

In March, SIVAC met with sanitary authorities from Mozambique to discuss the development of a concept paper for the country's future NITAG.
